Power to the People!

After 18 days of nationwide protest, Hosni Mubarak today stepped down from his post as President of Egypt. Today marks the beginning as much as the end to one of the most significant events in recent history in the Middle East. 2 months ago President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali of Tunisia was ousted from his position by mass protest in similar fashion. These events have sparked great fear amongst the dictatorships in neighbouring countries such as Saudi Arabia as many believe the people of Egypt and Tunisia have started a domino effect that could see the rest of the Middle East rise up against their oppressive dictators as they seek economic and political reforms, starting with the election of a democratic government.
